The Witschein Castle ( Slovenian : Svečinski degree ) is a castle in the region Kungota in Slovenia .

history

A castle was mentioned as early as the 12th century. She stood on the hill north of today's farm. In 1532 the Turks burned the castle down.

Today's castle was built near the castle ruins, essentially a Renaissance building from 1692 with four corner towers on a rectangular floor plan. Inscriptions above the entrance suggest that the foundations were built as early as 1629. Reinpert von Mueregg bequeathed the property to the Seckau cathedral monastery .

Renovations took place in the 19th and 20th centuries. In 1935 there was a training facility for farmers here, and after the Second World War an agricultural home school .
