Inclined elevator to the Schlossberg

The Schlossbergbahn is an automated inclined elevator that transports up to 25 passengers from the Stadtgarten to the Schlossberg in Freiburg im Breisgau . The train overcomes 73 meters of altitude with a maximum gradient of 22 °. The track width is 1.2 meters, the speed is 1.5 meters per second, so the train needs about three minutes for the 262 meter long route. The railway is the successor to the Schlossberg cable car, which was abandoned for economic reasons . In contrast to that, the new railway can also transport wheelchairs, prams and walkers.

The inclined elevator has been officially in operation since July 19, 2008 and leads from the city garden to the Schlossbergrestaurant Dattler, whose owner had it built in six months for 2.1 million euros. From the mountain station you can walk to the Schlossberg tower in about 15 minutes .
