The narrow-gauge railway Rakowski – Chaskowo was a narrow-gauge railway with a gauge of 600 mm from Rakowski (today Dimitrovgrad ) to Haskowo in Bulgaria . The line was opened in 1922 and closed in 1928.

history

In order to secure the supply of the military units and the population in the region around Haskowo, the military command proposed the construction of a 600 mm narrow-gauge railway. In 1920, the Council of Ministers decided to build the narrow-gauge railway line Rakovsky (today Dimitrovgrad ) - Haskovo - Kardzhali - Paşmaklı (today Smolyan ) instead of the originally planned standard gauge railway line Mihailowo (Михайлово, област Стара Загора. - Porto ) - Lagosov . The engineering troops immediately began building the line, completed it in Chaskovo and put it into operation in 1922.

The decision of the Council of Ministers of 24 July 1920 the distance from 600 to 760 mm switch tracks , has not been implemented. On March 30, 1923 and February 13, 1924, the Council of Ministers decided to build a new line with a track width of 1435 mm. The commissioning of the standard gauge line took place depending on the completion of the individual sections. The first section of the standard-gauge line was opened on February 1, 1928, on a route further to the east from Rakowski – Chaskowo, whereupon the narrow-gauge railway was taken out of service.
