history

The section Włocławek - Smólsk including the continuation to Brześć Kujawski was opened in 1907 as a sugar beet railroad, the branch from Smólsk to Boniewo in 1910. These beet railways had a track width of 750 millimeters. The remaining line Boniewo - Izbica Kujawska - Przystronie was opened in 1915 as a German army field railway of 600 millimeters, the remainder of the line was changed. After the end of the First World War , the track width was changed back to 750 millimeters, and passenger traffic was operated from 1922 at the latest, at that time the travel time of one pair of trains was just over three hours. In 1937 the Polish State Railways opened the branch line to the port of Włocławek.

During the German occupation of Poland in World War II, the station names were Germanized, the trains in 1943 took at least two and a half hours, sometimes significantly more time, for the Leslau – Bergeshöh (Włocławek – Bergeshöh) line. The entire route was operated in passenger traffic until 1978, when passenger traffic between Włocławek and Jerzmanowo was discontinued. On the rest of the route, passenger traffic was discontinued in the early 1990s. The route is also no longer operated for freight traffic.
