The Schmickbrücke is built in 1912 and an iron truss - bridge on the southern basin of Frankfurt Osthafen I in Frankfurt am Main - Ostend . Their structure separates the lanes for car traffic from the sidewalk strips on both sides . It was named after the civil engineer Peter Schmick , who died in 1899 and who designed several bridges in Frankfurt ( Untermainbrücke , Obermainbrücke , Eiserner Steg ).
