Blacksmith's cave

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Schmiedeknechthöhle is a cave in the Elbingeröder complex . It belongs to the group of the Bielshöhle in Rübeland and cannot be visited.

It received its name in 1953 from the discoverer Adalbert Schmiedeknecht. In 1952 and 1953 he and other young people from Rübeland succeeded in uncovering a completely littered mouth hole in Märtensstrasse, known as Cameroon.

According to experts, it is the most beautiful cave in Rübeland. The Berggeisthalle there is the most spectacular of all Rübeland stalagmites : with a base circumference of over three meters, it is 3.25 meters high.
