The house Schmiedgasse 15 in Ingelfingen in Hohenlohekreis is a residential building with Bohlenstube , which was built around the 1295th It is one of the oldest half-timbered houses in Germany.

location

The corner building is located in Ingelfinger's old town . It is traufständig to Schmiedgasse and gable permanently to the rear gate , the former along the walls, on an ascending north slope runs. On the western side, it is directly connected to another, newer building (Schmiedgasse 13).

You enter the ground floor ( mezzanine floor ) from Schmiedgasse in the south via an external staircase.

description

The two-storey half - timbered house with a collar beam roof was built in the late 13th century in a post -and- beam construction , with the first floor protruding about one meter to the east, towards the Hinteren Gasse. The fir wood used for construction was dendrochronologically dated to winter 1293/94 and the oak wood to 1294/95. The gable roof was originally thatched .

The area of the ground floor was probably about 7.9 × 7.15 m, the western end is unclear; the house could have been part of a larger building that also included the site of today's house at Schmiedgasse 13. Below the ground floor on the slope there is a brick vaulted cellar , which may be of older origin.

The medieval plank room with a vaulted ceiling (" barrel ceiling ") made of decorated beams is located on the first floor and is around 20 m² in size. Except for the window openings on the south side and minor structural changes, it has largely been preserved.

The ground floor and the basement were built in the 16th and 17th centuries. Century up to the height of the protruding first floor to the east and in a further construction phase around 1718 (dendrochronologically dated) the entire house was extended about 2 m to the north side. As a result of the latter conversion, the gable triangle is now unequal.

Finally, at the beginning of the 20th century, the building was expanded into a stable house with a cattle shed and workshop on the ground floor. The south-facing windows were probably added to the room at this time. Because of the plaster , which dates from the 18th or early 19th century, the framework below is no longer visible - the house looks inconspicuous from the outside.

The building, today owned by the city of Ingelfingen, was inhabited until the beginning of the 21st century.
