Amount of snow

A snow measure is an alcoholic mixed drink that is prepared and served in a mug .

preparation

First, a quarter of a liter of grain (e.g. Doornkaat ) is put into a beer mug. The first "ring" of the beer mug serves as a rough measure, up to the top of which the grain is filled. Four to five large scoops of vanilla ice cream are added to the grain. The whole thing is slowly filled up with lemonade and carefully stirred with a spoon until the ice has dissolved. A whisk or hand mixer can also be used to stir . You can drink the measure of snow directly from the mug or use thicker straws .

Different preparations

There are a number of different recipe variations, so a measure of snow can also be prepared with vodka instead of doornkaat . Replacing parts of the lemonade with sparkling wine or beer is rather uncommon.

Origin of name

The measure of snow takes its name from the creamy, light head of foam that forms from the ice and lemonade. Because of the sweet and fruity taste, which covers the considerable alcohol content, the snow measure, along with the goass measure and the lantern measure, is a popular drink in the old Bavarian region , especially among young people .
