The Beijing – Zhangjiakou high-speed line has been connecting Beijing with Zhangjiakou since the end of 2019 .

Technical parameters

The line is 174 km long, built in standard gauge and electrified with 25 kV / 50 Hz. It starts at Beijing North Railway Station. In the intermediate station Xiahuayuan District a branched route to Taizicheng from. It connects the Olympic village of the 2022 Winter Games in Chongli . The speed limit between Beijing and Zhangjiakou is 350 km / h, on the branch to Taizicheng it is 250 km / h.

In the first timetable , 22 pairs of trains ran on the route, many of them via Zhangjiakou to Datong and Hohhot . The shortest travel time between Beijing and Zhangjiakou is 47 minutes - on the conventional route it was 187 minutes. The shortest travel time between Beijing and Taizicheng is 1:04 hours.

history

Construction of the line began in 2016. It was inaugurated on December 30, 2019.
