The express mail Cologne – Berlin was set up in 1823 due to strange measures and regulations.

particularities

On the route from Berlin to Kassel this express mail was purely Prussian. In the area from Kassel to Cologne , in the Hessian area, Prince von Thurn und Taxis, who was enfeoffed with the local postal system, provided the transport. The master harness maker and carriages were provided for the entire route from Prussia. The wagons had to bear the inscription Combinierter Königlich Prussischer and Kurfürstlich Hessischer Postwagen between Cassel and Cöln .

The Prussian master carpenter, who came to Kassel with this post, was forbidden to wear sovereign badges and colored collars and lapels on their uniforms.
