Shock (coin)
The shock was a bill of exchange in the Kingdom of Saxony as well as in Bohemia and Silesia .
In the Kingdom of Saxony one differentiated according to the old counting measure 1 shock = 60 pieces:
- 1 old shock = 60 small shock groschen = 20 good groschen , it corresponded to 5 ⁄ 4 convention guilders = 75 kreuzers ;
- 1 new / heavy shock = 60 good groschen = 3 old shock, it was worth 15 ⁄ 4 convention guilders = 225 kreuzers.
Also in Bohemia and Silesia one knew different shocks (Czech kopa ):
- 1 old Bohemian shock = 60 Bohemia, it was worth 3 ⁄ 2 speciestalers = 3 convention guilders = 180 kreuzers;
- 1 new / small Bohemian shock = 40 Bohemia = 2 ⁄ 3 old Bohemian shock, this was 1 speciestaler = 2 convention guilders = 60 double cruisers;
- 1 shock Gröschel = 60 Gröschel = 1 ⁄ 4 old Bohemian shock, that corresponded to the value of 3 ⁄ 4 convention guilders = 45 kreuzers = 180 pfennigs .
The Groschen in Prague and Bohemia were called Bohemia, and Gröschel was also called bats .
