Shrouded rosette plants or shrouded rosette trees are characterized by a special growth form. They combine features of hemicryptophytes , chamaephytes and phanerophytes . They are mainly found in the high mountains of tropical climates, more precisely in the Páramo and the drier Puna .

In the young stage these plants are rosette perennials, whereby the leaves are curved upwards and can also move towards the center as frost protection and thus protect the plant or the vegetation point from damage. Now the axis grows up to 8 meters in height, the plants obtained as a tree-like habit, but are just inside, with marks stuffed (= herb strains manoxyl). One speaks now of crested trees.
