The Schrannenhalle in Augsburg, not to be confused with the Schranne Augsburg , was a building that served to supply the population with goods for daily needs. It stood on Halderstrasse and was demolished in the mid-1980s.

The Schrannenhalle was opened in 1874. She took over the function of the located in the city center grain Schranne in which up to that grain storages were held. The new building was located further west outside the city wall, which had been torn down to expand the city, near the main train station . The new, much more conveniently located hall accommodated goods that were delivered via the railway network.

To the south-east of the warehouse building was the Catholic cemetery on Hermanstrasse , to the south-west it went to the loading yard area. On the east side of the building there was an area that was undeveloped until 1967, on which there is now a parking garage for the Stadtsparkasse ; the west side bordered the railway area. A loading road ran along the north side , followed by Halderstrasse in parallel. Merchants picked up the goods and sold them to customers in the city market or their shops. A long loading ramp on the building could be used to fill carts and later trucks that stopped on the loading street .

With the decline of goods transport by rail since around the 1960s, the importance of the Schrannenhalle , which had been important for basic supply in the previous decades, declined . A few smaller shops rented warehouse space that had become vacant. The building belonging to the city in a valuable location caused increasing maintenance costs . So the decision was made to demolish the hall, sell the site for commercial purposes and use the proceeds to improve the communal finances. On the area of the Schrannenhalle, which was visually unappealing in its final years, there are now office buildings that give Halderstrasse a modern look.
