A loading lane is a railway system that road vehicles can drive on for the purpose of loading and unloading rail freight cars. The railway track , which is located on the loading road and on which the rail freight cars are made available for loading and unloading, is called the free loading track . The term loading track is also often used, but this can also refer to a track on a loading ramp .

As a rule, a loading line has one or more loading ramps and often a goods shed , but these facilities are not counted as part of the loading line. Sometimes loading streets with stationary loading facilities, e.g. B. with cranes or conveyor belts , which facilitate reloading between road and rail vehicles .
