The Schrattenhöhle is a karst cave on Melchsee-Frutt in the municipality of Kerns in the canton of Obwalden . The cave system has a total length of 19,725 meters, making it the sixth longest cave in Switzerland . The system covers an altitude difference of 573 meters. It was researched by the Höhlenforscher-Gemeinschaft Trüssel (HGT) and, since 2003, by the successor organization Höhlenforscher-Gemeinschaft Unterwalden (HGU) and the Karst and Caves Obwalden Foundation (NeKO).

The Schrattenhöhle is located in the Karst area of ​​Melchsee-Frutt. This is 15 km² and lies in an altitude range between 1100  m above sea level. M. and 2700  m above sea level. M. The cave system has eight entrances, two of which are in a pressure pipe tunnel. These are located between 1715  m above sea level. M. and 2090  m above sea level. M. In addition, there are a variety of cave greenhouse days openings that are too tight, however, to be committed.

Together with the neighboring caves Bettenhöhle , Neotektonikhöhle, Chrummegghöhle, Arviloch, Frutthöhle and about 130 other caves, this results in a cave area with a total of 59 kilometers, which is the third largest cave area in Switzerland .
