The Schreiberpforte (also: Frankfurter Pforte ) is a building in Darmstadt-Arheilgen .

History and description

The Schreiberpforte is a half-timbered house built in the 19th century on a site that is historically significant . The simple, two-storey , gable-free half-timbered building has a half-timbered structure typical of the time, made of second-hand wood and a beaver-tailed gable roof .

Monument protection

The building was built as a successor to the former customs station (Frankfurter Pforte) spanning Messeler Strasse . The name Schreiberpforte is reminiscent of the two customs clerks who used to live here . Today the half-timbered house is used as a residential building. For architectural and city history reasons, the building is a cultural monument .
