The composition studies (ger .: writing studies ) consists of writing research and applied composition studies with the subregions writing didactics and writing advice . Writing research

Applied writing science

In applied writing, the focus is on teaching and supporting writing.

  • How can writing processes be supported or accompanied in a meaningful way?
  • Which measures, methods, settings , arrangements facilitate the writing of texts?
  • How can you individually accompany and guide writers to write addressee-appropriate and genre-specific texts?
  • In addition, the functions and effects of writing processes are examined - in addition to the communicative function of writing, z. B. assumed a heuristic (knowledge generating), therapeutic or hedonistic function.

Areas of application

Findings in writing science can flow into the work of writing centers , writing workshops , writing courses, writing seminars and writing arrangements in the context of school, university and work. The aim of applied writing science is also to integrate it into practical teaching at universities, for example in the form of university writing centers.
