The Shrine of Fatima Masuma ( Persian حرم فاطمهٔ معصومه, DMG Haram-e-ye Fateme Ma'ṣūme ) of 817 deceased daughter of the seventh and sister of the eighth Imam of the Twelver Shiites , Reza , is located in the Iranian city of Qom (Qom). It is a complex of more than 25,000 square meters with a large mosque . After the Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad , it is the second most important Shiite pilgrimage site in Iran; its golden dome is a symbol of the city.

Fatima al-Masuma (Arabic; DMG Fāṭima al-Maʿṣūma , "the sinless") had herself taken to the Shiite center of Qom to die after falling ill on the trip to her brother Ali ar-Rida in Saveh .

The mosque has a total of three domes and six minarets . One of the largest Shiite training centers for clergy, the Islamic Theological College ( Hauwza ) of Qom , which became known in Europe primarily through Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini , was built on the site of the shrine complex . Many buildings - including the Shrine of Fatima Masuma - were erected under Shah Abbas I in the early 17th century, supplemented by Fath Ali Shah in the 19th century . Three daughters of the ninth Twelve Shiite imam Muhammad at-Taqi are also buried within the shrine .
