Elementary school Delmestraße

The school Delmestraße , also the school on Delmestraße in Bremen in the Neustadt district , Delmestraße 145, was housed in a listed building from 1931. Today it bears the name Inge Katz School .

history

The free school on Westerstrasse in Neustadt, with up to 1000 students, existed from 1854 to 1931. It had to be closed because it was in disrepair. For this school, a new elementary school at Delmestrasse 145 was planned by the Bremen Building Department from 1928 . The predominantly three-storey school was built from 1929 to 1931 on spacious grounds in the modern style of the 1920s. The brick school was well equipped with additional specialist rooms, an auditorium and a gym. A larger school garden was also used for teaching. The school, which was mainly aimed as a boys' school, also received an upscale train (Realschule) for the girls.

In World War II , various parts of the building were damaged and soon recovered. From 1945 a primary , secondary and secondary school were housed here. The auditorium was initially used for theater performances by the Bremen Theater . It was renovated until 1956 and was then only used by the school. The Atrium cinema was housed in the gymnasium until 1956 . It received an extension in 1957.

In 1976, the school center for secondary level I was set up here with secondary school, secondary school, orientation level and grammar school . Another new school was built in 1979/80.

From 1988 the school was an upper secondary level location . The pupils in grades 10 to 13 were relocated from the location of the school on Leibnizplatz . Vocational schools for housekeeping and social education have now been established at the site. After 2000 to around 2011/12, the general education area at the school center was dissolved and the location for the professional area called Schulzentrum Neustadt was expanded. Since 2004 the school at Leibnitzplatz has had a high school, which was housed in the school building on Delmestrasse until 2012.

Monument protection

In 1984 the school on Delmestrasse was listed as a historical monument .

Neustadt school center

The Neustadt school center (SZN), also known as the Neustadt upper secondary school center, is located at Delmestraße 141b . This is a vocational school in upper secondary level for home economics and social education. There are currently the individual courses (as of 2012/13):
