The Albert-Einstein-Grund- und Realschule plus (until 2011: Staatliche Kopernikus-Realschule) is an organizationally linked elementary and secondary school plus in a cooperative form. It is in the Ludwigshafen-Friesenheim district . The current school building dates from 1908 and was expanded in 1913. It is a listed three-wing complex on an H-shaped floor plan with three-storey hipped roof buildings in Art Nouveau style with classicist motifs and is located at Leuschnerstraße 131.

When World War II broke out, the school became a military hospital . Photos from this period confirm that soldiers with minor and severe injuries used to lie in today's classrooms.

After the war, the hospital became a school again, at that time the Pestalozzi-Gund- und Hauptschule. The school was later renamed the Rupprecht School. At the end of the 1980s, the Kopernikus Realschule exchanged its building on Virchowstrasse with the secondary school of the Rupprecht School. The reasons were the falling number of pupils in the Realschule (falling quickly from around 1200 to below 600 in the early 1980s) and the sharp rise in the number of pupils in the Hauptschule. The primary school students at the Rupprecht School stayed in the previous building. The primary school students were housed in the west wing, the junior high school students in the main part and the east wing. An external spatial separation was possible due to the two entrances (separate signs for the two types of school), inside there was no separation. The school organization was completely separate. The primary school was also looked after from Virchowstrasse.

In the 1970s, some classrooms at the Rupprecht School were used by the Max Planck Gymnasium. Here, too, the reason was the sharp increase in the number of students. These rooms were called "Annex" by the students.

A public bath was housed in the basement of the Rupprecht School until the 1980s. It was in operation until the early 1970s. A chess club later took over part of these rooms.

After the Realschule plus was introduced in 2011, the Kopernikus Realschule was given a new name and was organizationally linked to the Wilhelm Leuschner School (formerly primary and secondary school).

By resolution of the City Council of Ludwigshafen am Rhein on April 15, 2019, the school was given the new school name "Albert Einstein Elementary and Realschule plus Ludwigshafen". The school community wanted a uniform name to show the connection to the outside world and to counter a supposed separation between the students of the former secondary school and the former secondary school.
