Schulscharfe Stellen denotes a program of the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia to counter the shortage of teachers and the aging of the teaching staff by employing teacher applicants directly at schools that are in need, which is less bureaucratic .
In Baden-Württemberg there is a comparable program that enables teaching positions to be filled directly by the schools using “school-specific advertisements”. However, it is less a matter of attracting newcomers to the school service than of enabling schools to select applicants that match the school profile themselves through a school-specific interview with more specific questions.
