The Schumannhaus is a Renaissance bourgeois house in Gdansk at Langgasse 45, corner of Matzkauschegasse.

History and architecture

The Schumann House is the last house in the southern row of houses on Langgasse and the western end of the Long Market . The town house was built around 1560. It belonged to the Schumann family, from which five mayors, four royal burgraves and eleven councilors emerged.

The gable is crowned in the middle by a statue of the god Zeus and in the niches the statues of Apollo and Diana . The statue of Athena can be seen from the Long Market .

The headquarters of the Polish Society for Tourism and Local Lore (PTTK) and a travel guide center are located in the house.
