The swallow starlings ( Artamus ) are a genus from the family of the same name the swallow starlings (Artamidae) in the order of the passerine birds (Passeriformes).

The distribution area extends from Australia , New Guinea , the Philippines to the Indian and southern Chinese region. The breeding areas of some species are found in the latter. Swallow starlings have two special features. They are the only songbirds to have powder down and have the ability to let themselves be carried upwards by updrafts. They spot their prey, which consists mainly of insects , from a viewing point. They have a very graceful and agile flight. The small body is stocky and its wings are pointed and long.
