Schwalmtalzupfer
The Schwalmtalzupfer , officially Jugendförderung Schwalmtal-Zupfer eV , are a German guitar orchestra from Schwalmtal , according to their own statement the largest in Europe. Under the direction of Erwin and Benjamin Münten, around 600 children, adolescents and adults learn to play the guitar in several groups.
history
The history of Schwalmtalzupfer began in 1981 when Erwin Münten was teaching a group of just ten people. He has been doing it full-time since 1993. Europe's largest guitar orchestra gives one or two concerts every year, one or three on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the third weekend in Advent and often one in summer. The Schwalmtalzupfer have released six CDs so far, one of them only with Christmas carols.
Youth outings
Once a year around 100 Schwalmtalzupfer go to a pony farm for a weekend and around 100 young people go to a Center Parc every year . Every 2 years there is a one-week trip to Ganges in southern France ; Spain ; the Netherlands or the Allgäu .
Concerts
The Schwalmtalzupfer have two big concerts. The summer concert takes place on the Waldniel market square in front of the Schwalmtaldom. Admission is usually free. The Schwalmtalzupfer's winter concert (actually 4 concerts: one on Friday, one on Saturday and two on Sunday) usually takes place in the Achim-Besgen-Halle on the first or third weekend in Advent in Waldniel.
