The Black Forest Mushroom Teaching Show is a public teaching and training facility for mycology in Hornberg . It is the first school of its kind in Germany and the only one in Germany and neighboring countries that continuously offers seminars on mushroom studies for almost every level of basic knowledge. The program primarily comprises beginner, advanced and specialist courses on various topics and the training of mushroom experts.

history

In 1962, under the suggestion of Hans Steinmann , the rector Max Hetzel founded an exhibition of various wild mushrooms in Hornberg under the name Black Forest Mushroom Show . In 1972 Hetzel retired from his job for reasons of age, whereupon Rose Marie Dähncke took over the management of the facility. Also at Steinmann's suggestion, she expanded the site into a teaching institution and renamed it the Black Forest Mushroom Teaching Show . By the time she finished her job in 1979, Dähncke increased the school's profile significantly. Three years later, in 1982, Walter Pätzold took over the management of the Black Forest Mushroom Teaching Show and headed it until his death on February 22, 2011. He, too, significantly expanded the importance of the facility.
Björn Wergen from Northern Eifel took over the management of the facility on October 1st, 2015.
