Schwedengraben (Trebel – Ryck)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Schwedengraben is an 8 km long ditch in Western Pomerania that connects the (Poggendorfer) Trebel (70.0 river kilometers above the confluence with the Peene ) through the salt marshes near Grimmen with the Ryckgraben , which drains through the Ryck near Greifswald into the Baltic Sea. The Schwedengraben comprises a pseudobifurcation , an apex area with an unclear flow direction, which is fed by several lateral tributaries.

The confluence with the Poggendorfer Trebel 400 meters northwest of the old town of Grimmen is 3.8 m above sea level.

The connection between the river systems meets after 3.4 km at the Heidebrink residential area in Grimmen in a T-connection on a ditch that does not always carry water 2.4 km northwest near Klein Lehmhagen and turns with a 90 ° bend in its continuation to the east-southeast . After a few meters, the upper course of the Ryckgraben branches off in another T-connection to the northeast . From here, the Schwedengraben flows south past Bartmannshagen and finally ends at the bridge of the B 96 with a confluence with the Ryckgraben.

Its water level is in places around 20 cm below sea level, held by a pumping station south of Horst .

The ditch has the water code numbers 965612 and 966619x and is managed by the Ryck-Ziese Water and Soil Association .
