Horst is a district of the municipality of Sundhagen in the district of Vorpommern-Rügen .
Geography and traffic
Horst is located 12 kilometers east of the town of Grimmen , 21 kilometers southeast of Stralsund and 11.5 kilometers northwest of Greifswald . Federal road 96 runs west of the former municipality and federal road 105 , the former B 96, to the east .
history
The village of Horst was first mentioned in a document on March 12, 1323, but the area was settled much earlier. In the deed, the von Gristow family sold the von Papenhagen brothers (citizens of Stralsund) 12 hooves in Wüst-Eldena, Segebadenhau (Seghebodenhowe), Horst and Bremerhagen (Bremerhaghen).
In the Middle Ages , Ekberg Castle was located in the municipality . It served as a sovereign fortification for the princes of Rügen , who ruled here at that time. From the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648) until 1815 the community belonged to Sweden , after which the area became Prussian .
In 1871 the state statistics show the following information: Horst had 60 houses with 120 households and 476 inhabitants, in 1867 there were 510.
Since 1896, Horst was well connected to the transport network by the Greifswald – Grimmen – Tribsees railway.
On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality of Segebadenhau was incorporated.
Horst belonged to the state of Mecklenburg , from July 25, 1952 to the Rostock district and from October 3, 1990 to the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Until June 11, 1994 it was in the district of Grimmen in its respective area and then in the district of North Western Pomerania .
On June 7, 2009, the Horst community merged with the Behnkendorf , Brandshagen , Kirchdorf , Miltzow , Reinberg and Wilmshagen communities to form the new Sundhagen community. It consisted of the districts Horst, Jager, Gerdeswalde, Segebadenhau (incorporated on July 1, 1950) and Wendorf.
