Geography and traffic

Berghof is 14 kilometers northeast of the city of Grimmen , 9 kilometers south of Stralsund and 23 kilometers northwest of Greifswald . The federal highway 96 , which has been developed as a four-lane road, runs east of the village, the Greifswald – Stralsund railway line , which has existed since 1863, and further east the federal highway 105 , the former B 96.

history

According to MTB ( measuring table sheet ), a suburb of Ahrendsee was called “Heidehof” in 1880 and was renamed “Berghof” in 1920 according to MTB. But even this settlement is not the Berghof described. To the north of this Vorwerk, a small housing estate was built around 1920 on the road junction to Zarrendorf, which did not yet have a name.

The state statistics of 1871 also do not recognize any village or manor district with the name Berghof.

After 1945 the Vorwerk with the name Berghof disappeared and instead this settlement at the road junction was given the name Berghof. It remained a small village.

Berghof was part of the Grimmen district until 1952 and then belonged to the Grimmen district in the Rostock district until 1994 . Berghof has been part of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania since 1990.

Berghof merged on June 7th, 2009 with the communities Behnkendorf , Brandshagen , Kirchdorf , Miltzow , Reinberg and Wilmshagen to form the new community Sundhagen.
