Geography and traffic

Wüstenfelde is located 15 kilometers northeast of the city of Grimmen , 10 kilometers south of Stralsund and 22 kilometers northwest of Greifswald . The four-lane B 96 road runs east of the village . The Greifswald – Stralsund railway has been running to the west of the village since 1863 and the former federal highway 96, the current federal highway 105 , which joins the new B 96 not far from Wüstenfelde, further east .

history

The early settlement is archaeologically proven by the Bronze Age barrow of Wüstenfelde.

In contrast, Wüstenfelde was not listed in the Pomeranian documents until the mid-14th century. The Swedish matriculation cards from 1696 do not know the place either.

The place name only appears in the Prussian Urmes Tischblatt (PUM) from 1835. There is a larger courtyard with a park. The curious thing here is that there are no residential developments in the place other than the estate. For this purpose, Blankenhagen, which later fell into desolation, was created as an associated living space for the Wüstenfelde estate.

In 1871 Wüstenfelde, known as Vorwerk, had 5 houses with 8 households and 49 inhabitants, in 1867 there were only 43. All were members of the Protestant denomination.

The measuring table sheet (MTB) from 1880 shows a large estate with a north-eastern park.

Since 1896, Wüstenfelde has been well connected to the transport network by the Greifswald – Grimmen – Tribsees railway. At the instigation of Charlotte von Bismark-Bohlen, it received its own train station at Gut Niederhof around 1900. The residential area of Wüstenfelde, which previously existed in the now desolate town of Blankenhagen, was relocated here. The MTB from 1920 shows this condition.

After the Second World War and the land reform in the Soviet occupation zone , the structure of the village was changed. Two farm buildings will be preserved, the manor house and park were cleared and new farms were built there and on the railway line.

On July 1, 1950, Wüstenfelde was incorporated into Brandshagen.

On June 7, 2009, Brandshagen merged with the communities Behnkendorf , Horst , Kirchdorf , Miltzow , Reinberg and Wilmshagen to form the new community Sundhagen.
