The tail guard ( English Horse Tail Guard ) is part of a horse harness .
description
The tail protection is usually made of steel. There are different versions, some of which are very simple, or are made as part of a splendid armor at the highest level of craftsmanship (see web links ). They can be made from a single panel or from multiple, overlapping panels (pushed). The tail protection is either connected to the horse armor on the krupper , or is attached directly to the horse's tail with the help of leather cords. It serves to protect the base of the tail and tailbone from injuries caused by blows. Similar protective devices are still used today for horses, but they are made of modern materials ( neoprene , Thermotex) or leather .
