Piggy Dick lays an egg is a 1944 American animated short film directed by Frank Tashlin .

action

Piggy Dick runs the Flockheed Eggcraft Factory, which shipped eggs around the world during World War II . Dozens of hens arrive punctually every day to lay the eggs, which are then polished and packaged.

The daily routine is disrupted when the thin rooster Frankie sings As Time Goes By on a small stage on the premises . The hens forget their work, crowd around the stage and finally faint . Piggy Dick advertises in the newspaper that he is looking for a new crooner who, not least, should increase the egg production in the hens with his song and not make them pass out and thus unable to work. After numerous lead singers, The Old Groaner appears, a chubby rooster who now competes with Frankie.

The egg production of the hens now standing between two crooners increases enormously in a very short time. At the end, Piggy Dick stands between huge mountains of eggs. He asks both roosters how they manage to stimulate egg production in the hens in such a way. They both sing to him and Piggy Dick suddenly lays eggs too.
