Boathouse
The boathouse is located directly on the Main (south side km 333.3) on the northern edge of the weir systems . In addition to changing rooms and two boat halls, it also includes a weight room, a club room and the larger Karl-Weppert-Saal (named after the honorary chairman Karl-Weppert, who built the current boathouse in 1950), extensive green areas, numerous motorboat berths and a bowling alley . The hospitality, the premises and the wonderful location make the rowing club a very popular address in Schweinfurt for celebrations of all kinds.
history
The association was founded in 1882. His first clubhouse was on the other side of the Main, a little further down the Main, just above the Max Bridge (today: Johanniter), but was given up after the war for reasons of space. The move took place in the spring of 1954. A first official event was the "German Rowing Day 1954".
Well-known events include the “Frankenschild Regatta”, which is no longer held today, the Bavarian rowing championships, the German sprint championships, the German touring rowing meeting and the German rowing day.
activities
The sports practiced include rowing, jogging in the neighboring weir systems, walking, training camps for cross-country skiing and the so-called "crew class" - that is, collective training on the rowing ergometer with music and animation. In addition to the performance rowing also in Schweinfurt are hiking rowing , the popular sports Rowing and not least the school rowing maintained. The latter takes active and ambitious lateral entrants from the participating schools (Celtis-Gymnasium and A.-v.-Humboldt-Gymnasium) to the state competition every year, youth training for the Olympics and now and then even to the national decision in Berlin. However, the main focus of the club is on the practice of racing rowing. The active participants are supported and trained by several instructors and a full-time trainer.
