The Swiss Chess Museum in Lucerne shows over 4000 chess pieces , stamps, clocks, books and much more on the topic of chess . The museum was opened on December 15, 2012 in Kriens . It is privately run by Werner Rupp, who is also the President of the Lucerne Chess Club . After a stopover in Horw, the museum reopened in Lucerne in 2019 on Neustadtstrasse.

Over 900 chess games are shown in 48 showcases, and additional information about the origin of the chess game, game types such as blind chess, chess and music, chess and numismatics , or about chess computers . Visitors to the museum also have the opportunity to play a game of chess against other visitors or against the computer.
