The RIS Swiss Section - Deutschsprachige Schule Bangkok (formerly: Deutschsprachige Schule Bangkok ; Swiss School Bangkok ) is a private Swiss school abroad with German and English as the language of instruction, which was founded in 1963. It is officially sponsored by Switzerland and the Federal Republic of Germany , which support the school by sending foreign service staff. The school is located in the Min Buri district , east of Bangkok city center .
The school offers an educational path from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade. As the only Swiss school abroad in Asia, it offers the Bilingual Swiss Matura. Around 230 schoolchildren of different nationalities (mainly Germans, Swiss, Austrians and some Thais ) currently attend the RIS Swiss Section. Since February 2007 the school has been an official test center for the International Computer Driving License .
In 1984 the German-speaking school in Bangkok was incorporated into the Ruamrudee International School (RIS, Thai: โรงเรียน ร่วมฤดี วิเทศศึกษา ) as the “Swiss Section” . Schulträger is an association, the Swiss Educational Association.
In 2011, after the federal-state inspection had examined the school, the school received the seal of “ Excellent German School Abroad ”.
