Swiss working group for patients' interests

The Swiss Working Group for Patient Interests (SAPI) is the umbrella organization of the Swiss patient organizations based in Bern .

Goals of the SAPI

The goals are the exchange of information and ideas between the organizations. In addition, the association advocates the interests of patients in political committees, organizations and the public. The association pursues its purpose in particular by a) creating the opportunity for regular exchange of information among its members, b) advocating adequate representation of patients in working groups, commissions and other bodies, c) seeking to coordinate the socio-political activities of its members, d ) makes statements to authorities, organizations and the public within the framework of the association's purpose.

Active members of the association can become non-profit legal entities.

Charter of the SAPI

In March 2002 the SAPI drew up a charter on the subject of " Sponsoring patient organizations". It is intended to help patient associations, self-help organizations , health leagues and other organizations not become dependent on commercial interests (e.g. the pharmaceutical industry ) for financial reasons . The charter is also an antidote to pseudo-patient organizations. The text of the charter is available on the SAPI website under "Sponsoring Guidelines".
