The Swiss Association of Emitters, Minerals and Fossil Collectors (SVSMF) is the association of emitters , mineral and fossil collectors in Switzerland .

history

On the initiative of Gottfried Beck, HK Rüfenacht and R. Vittoz, spotlights and collector friends came together in Meiringen in 1956 to form an informal association. As a result, the bulletin for mineralistics, “Der Strahler”, was published regularly, the predecessor of today's “Schweizer Strahler”, the official journal of the SVSMF. Every year they come together for a conference. The first mineral exchange was held in March 1957 in Schönenwerd (in what was then the Bally Museum).

On September 24, 1966, the founding meeting took place in Spiez, where the Swiss Association of Emitters and Mineral Collectors (SVSM) was founded. At the founding meeting, Gottfried Beck was elected honorary president of the association that had been founded for his immense preparatory work. Among the current sections there are two (Zurich and Upper Valais) that existed before the SVSM founding assembly. After many years, the fossil collectors also joined the association. From then on, the association bore its current name.

To date, ten people have led the association as central presidents:

1966-1973 Franz B. Haverkamp
1974-1977 Otto Lucek
1978-1981 Max Isler
1982-1987 Hermann Ogi
1988-1995 Ernst Rufibach
1996-2002 Ruedi Schulthess
2003 - 2013 Charles Handschin
2014-2014 Ueli Schäfer, Co-President Cédric Schnyder
2015-2015 Cédric Schnyder, Co-President Ueli Schäfer
2015 - Pascal Grundler

activities

The association's activities include:

  • Publication of “Schweizer Strahlers”, the information magazine for experts and interested parties.
  • The SVSMF's code of honor contains rules of conduct and measures towards nature for emitters, mineral and fossil collectors as well as for sellers and traders.
  • The SVSMF runs an arbitration commission, which can be called as long as no notification has been made.
  • The SVSMF has a pool of referees.
  • The President's Conference is the association's strategic body.
  • Protection of the mountain world.

Sections

The 2300 members of the SVSMF are organized in 15 sections as independent associations. The sections organize excursions, tours, lectures, gatherings and social events for their members. Some sections also maintain a workshop with machines for processing stones and also libraries with relevant specialist books. Others have their own youth groups (e.g. Bern, Biel, Geneva, Lausanne, Solothurn and others). The sections also provide the delegates for the President's Conference, at whose meeting future-oriented strategies are found and introduced.

As a rule, there is one section per canton . The sections form the foundation of the Swiss Association of Radiators, Minerals and Fossil Collectors SVSMF. These are organized as clubs and determine their club life largely autonomously. Members are free to choose which sections in Switzerland they want to belong to. They are not tied to units of the administrative structure in Switzerland such as cantons, districts or municipalities.
