Swiss republican

The Swiss Republican was a Swiss weekly newspaper . Wilhelm Füssli was one of its founders and owners . It initially appeared once, later twice a week, for the first time on November 26, 1830 to June 26, 1846 and again from November 22, 1848 to December 30, 1851. The newspaper was published in Zurich by Heinrich Gessner and in Gessner's printing house manufactured.

In 1831 Ludwig Snell took over the editing of the liberal newspaper. It served as the mouthpiece of the radical rural party and dealt with the reform concerns of the countryside towards the city.

The newspaper is not to be confused with The Republican , which appeared under various similar names from 1798 to 1803.
