Sword Cross 1814–1815
The Sword Cross 1814-1815 was donated on May 22, 1819 by Landgrave Friedrich V von Hessen-Homburg and could be awarded to all subjects who had distinguished themselves in the campaigns on the occasion of the wars of liberation against France .
The silver- gilt medal is unusual in its shape. It consists of a vertical and a horizontal antique sword with the tip pointing to the left, which is tied crosswise in the center. The year 1814 1815 can be seen on the tape . The initials of the founder FLL (Friedrich Ludwig Landgraf) are on the reverse of the ribbon from the top left .
The award was worn on a ponceau red ribbon with four white stripes on the left side of the chest.
For the Grand Duke Ludwig I of Hesse , an enlarged medal was created that was worn as a neck decoration.
