location

The building stands at the former Magdeburg Gate in the Hünerdorf area in the Calvörde area, not far from the Catholic Holy Cross Church .

Architecture and history

The high-quality solitary building is located at the confluence of Geschwister-Scholl-Strasse and Oebisfelder Strasse. The two-storey half - timbered house (constructive half-timbered structure), which is distinctive on both sides, is very effective in terms of urban planning due to its location in the mouth area. The compartments are lined with bricks. The nurses' house was built around 1780 and has a high billet hipped roof . The structure was completely renovated in the 2000s . The nurses' house (as a social station ) was inhabited by a local sister in the 18th century, she took care of the minor injuries and looked after the residents. There is a workshop in the courtyard of the former sister house ; this was used for handicraft lessons during the GDR era. Today the listed half-timbered house is used as a residential and commercial building.
