The callous torpedo catfish ( Dianema longibarbis ) is a catfish native to eastern Peruvian waters that can reach a length of up to 9 cm. The brownish or flesh-colored, elongated callous torpedo fish is a peaceful schooling fish that is well suited to keeping in aquariums , but requires both hiding places and dense background plants as well as free swimming space, so that the aquarium should not be less than 80 cm in length.
As an intestinal breath , the fish needs free access to the water surface. The males of the species also build a foam nest on this , in which the females lay the fertilized eggs. When mating, several males court a female.
