The Innsbruck Swimming Club , or SCIBK for short, is an Austrian water sports club from Innsbruck in Tyrol . The club was founded in 1933 and offers swimming , diving , synchronized swimming and many other water sports. His club colors are white and red.

history

The club was founded on July 25, 1933, alongside the Tyrolean water sports club, as the second swimming club in Innsbruck as the Innsbruck Swimming Club or SC Strich , as it is called by members because of its coat of arms. Some athletes such as Toni Lanzinger, Albert and Karl Stemberger and Mizzi Steden went to the Innsbruck swimming club. On January 31, 1936, Albert Stemberger set a new Austrian record in Schmetterling. Grete Ittlinger , who took part in the 1936 Olympic Games , moved to the Innsbruck Swimming Club after the end of the war, and in 1947 became Austrian state champion in 100 m crawl. The indoor swimming pool on Amraserstrasse was reopened in 1948. Other national champions were Christl Kofler from 1947 to 1951 over 200 m chest, 1952 Günther Pajekt over 200 m and 1966 Hannes Auffinger over 100 m crawl.

Today the club takes care of the youngsters in Tyrol as part of its swimming school.

Water polo

The water polo team was first mentioned in the chronicles in 1952 in a game against the Tyrolean water sports club, in which they beat their rivals 5-1 on August 9th. From 1955 to the 1970s, the team played in the Austrian State League against teams from Linz (LSK, ASK Linz), Vienna (Swimming Union, SC Diana), Graz (Union Graz, Grazer AK), Wiener Neustadt and Kapfenberg. Due to the high travel costs, the section voluntarily renounced the participation of the State League A and played in the State League B created in 1961. In 1969, the section took 5th place ahead of Linz ASK, USC Graz and the Wiener Neustädtern in the Austrian State Championship, in 1970 4th. Space. On December 3, 1970, the Strichler defeated the water polo players from the Tyrolean water sports club 9: 4.
