The SCHWIND eye-tech-solutions GmbH develops, manufactures and markets medical lasers to correct vision defects and the corresponding diagnostic and surgical peripherals. The owner-managed company based in Kleinostheim in Lower Franconia employs over 100 people.

Company history

Named after the company founder of the same name, the company was first entered in the Aschaffenburg commercial register in 1958 under Herbert Schwind GmbH & Co. KG.

In 1964 the subsidiary Titmus Eurocon was founded, which specialized in the development of contact lenses and launched a world first in 1972 with the introduction of the first soft contact lens. In 1982 Titmus Eurocon was sold to the Swiss company Ciba Geigy ( Novartis ). In the years that followed, Schwind eye-tech-solutions turned the trend from a diagnostic technology supplier for medical practices to an innovative technology leader in eye laser systems for refractive and therapeutic corneal surgery . With the Schwind Amaris excimer laser , the company launched the world's first eye laser on the market in 2007, which combines all the most modern technologies available in one system.

Since 2008, the company has received several national and international awards for its innovative strength, including a. with the industry award 2008 in the medical technology category, with the Gusi Peace Prize 2008, with the Medical Design Excellence Award 2008 in gold, as one of the top 100 most innovative companies in 2008; and as a “Selected Location” in the “Germany - Land of Ideas 2009” competition.
