The Science Magazine Notes is a German science magazine. The magazine has existed since 2018, appears twice a year and is available nationwide in newsagents and online. The magazine bears the subtitle "Magazine for Knowledge and Society" and is aimed at a broad audience interested in science. Telling stories about people from science, the interface between research and society and the sophisticated design are central to the concept.Another feature is the monothematic approach, in which a topic is examined from different scientific disciplines and perspectives. The topics of the previous editions were "Optimal", "Danger", "Real" and "Come together".

The Science Notes magazine works editorially independently. The texts are written by the editors and freelance science journalists such as B. Christoph Drösser or Eva Wolfangel written. The magazine sees itself as a test balloon for a possible concept of foundation-financed science journalism.

Science Notes are a nationwide event format for science communication. On the themed evenings, leading scientists report on their research in 15-minute short presentations, with live music. The Science Notes events are a mixture of scientific lecture and concert. Five respected scientists present their current research: in 15 minutes each, understandably and vividly. Previous guests have included Antje Boetius , Michael Braungart and Josef Settele .

The topics are usually at the interface of current scientific research and social relevance (e.g. climate change, future of nutrition, artificial intelligence).

Artists accompany the event with electronic music and visuals. Admission is free and all lectures can be seen on YouTube. In this project, too, the aim is to make science accessible to a wider audience in an appealing way. The Science Notes are a project at the Seminar for General Rhetoric at the University of Tübingen and are funded by the Klaus Tschira Foundation .
