Science and Industry (ger .: Science and Industry) is a team -based Multiplayer - Mod of the computer game Half-Life .

Unlike in most team multiplayer mods such as Counter-Strike , the goal of the game is not to achieve a victory by winning rounds. Rather, the game ends after a specified time, after which the team that has accumulated the most money through research wins. The competing teams are named after fictional companies called Amalgamated Fluorodynamics (AFD) and Midland Carbide Labs (MCL; English: “Midland Carbide Laboratories”) . The current version has the version number 1.1 and was published on December 14, 2006. The mod has improved graphics compared to the original game with more polygons in the scientist models and higher-resolution textures .

Game mechanics

The aim of the game of collecting money can be achieved in a variety of ways. The basis for this are the scientists of each company. They have an "efficiency level" (standard: 100%), which, multiplied by their number, results in the company's monetary gain every second. At the start of the game, each team has three scientists. The scientists are constantly doing research, the speed varies depending on the number and efficiency. The research objectives are determined by the players in regular coordination during the game. This allows the teams to opt for research in the areas of weapons , implants , armament , special equipment and research acceleration. The main task of the players is to kidnap scientists from the opposing team to make them work for you and to protect their own scientists. Furthermore, there are sensitive objects in every base, the destruction of which the team throws back a certain amount of money. In addition, player dying and subsequent cloning costs the team money.

weapons

In Science & Industry no weapons have been taken from the original game. A selection of the partly exotic and futuristic weapons:

Science and Industry 2

Science and Industry 2 was released on July 4, 2008. Work on the mod was stopped on November 18, 2008 - why is unclear. The current version is 1.2, but this is no longer played on the Internet.
