description
The spotted efeutute is an evergreen climber that can grow up to heights of three meters on trees or other supports by means of aerial roots . Its leaves have a silky consistency and are mostly dull green with light spots. Its Latin name "pictus" refers to this characteristic color. As a houseplant, it usually reaches a height of 90 centimeters. It forms creeping, climbing or hanging thin shoots that rarely branch out. The species is said to be fast-growing and, apart from heat and humidity, relatively undemanding.
distribution
Their natural range is Southeast Asia . The spotted efeutute occurs in countries such as Bangladesh , Thailand , Malaysia , Borneo , Java , Sumatra , Sulawesi and the Philippines . It is now also found in other tropical countries and as a houseplant around the world.
use
The spotted efeutute as well as the related species Epipremnum aureum are popular houseplants . In tropical countries it can be found in many parks and gardens and tends to run wild there. It can withstand temperatures of up to 15 ° C. The temperature optimum, however, is between 18 ° C and 25 ° C. The plant can be easily and in large numbers propagated by cuttings from the head, which then develop aerial roots again. She received the Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society . It is one of the air-purifying plants.
