Scots Wha Hae , actually Robert Bruce's March to Bannockburn (Bruce before Bannockburn) , written by Robert Burns , is one of Scotland's most popular poems and songs . It is a popular song and acts as one of Scotland's three unofficial national anthems alongside The Flower of Scotland and Scotland the Brave . The song refers to the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314 and allegedly reproduces Robert the Bruce's address to his army immediately before the actual battle against Edward II of England (son of "Edward the Longshanks").
"Scots Wha Hae" is the party song of the Scottish National Party . In the past, it was sung every year at the end of the annual national conference.
