Seán Fallon

Seán Fallon ( Irish Seán Ó Fallúin ; born September 26, 1937 in Athlone , County Westmeath , † July 4, 1995 ) was an Irish politician of the Fianna Fáil .

Life

Fallon, who was an insurance broker by profession , was initially active in local politics and from 1967 until his death was a member of the County Council (County Council) of County Westmeath and the Urban District Council (Urban District Council) of the part of Athlone located in County Westmeath. In addition, he ran in 1973, 1977 and 1981 in the constituency of Longford Westmeath unsuccessfully for a mandate in the House of Commons (Dáil Éireann) .

Finally, in 1981, as a candidate for Fianna Fáil, he was elected to the Senate (Seanad Éireann) for the first time , where he represented the industry and finance group, the so-called Industrial and Commercial Panel, until his death .

On January 23, 1992 he was elected Cathaoirleach and was President of the Senate until his death on July 4, 1995.
