Seán Whelan
Seán Whelan († 2004 in Turkey ) was an Irish diplomat .
During his diplomatic career Whelan worked at the Irish embassies in France , Saudi Arabia and Lebanon . He also worked for Ireland's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York City and Ireland's Permanent Mission to the European Union . In 2001 he became the Irish ambassador to Turkey. He held this office until his death.
