The Roman Catholic Diocese of Kisantu ( Latin Dioecesis Kisantuensis , French Diocèse de Kisantu ) is in the Democratic Republic of Congo situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Kisantu .

history

The diocese of Kisantu was founded on April 1, 1931 by Pope Pius XI. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Expostularunt from assignments of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Koango o Kwango as Apostolic Vicariate Kisantu . The Apostolic Vicariate Kisantu gave on July 5, 1957 parts of its territory to establish the Apostolic Prefecture Kenge .

On November 10, 1959, the Apostolic Vicariate Kisantu by Pope John XXIII. raised to a diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Cum parvulum and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Kinshasa as a suffragan . The diocese of Kisantu gave on June 24, 1961 parts of its territory to establish the diocese of Popokabaka .
