SeaEscape (until 1985 Scandinavian World Cruises ) was a Bahamas- based shipping company that was founded in 1980 and operated several cruise ships . After SeaEscape filed for bankruptcy in 1991 , the brand was revived in 1997 before being completely dissolved in 2008.

history

SeaEscape was founded in 1980 as Scandinavian World Cruises in the Bahamas. The shipping company, which belongs to Det Forenede Dampskibs-Selskab (DFDS), operated several cruise ships that could also be used as ferries , but was not particularly successful. In 1985 the shipping company was restructured and renamed SeaEscape.

DFDS remained a co-owner of the shipping company until 1987 before it became independent. After four more years, SeaEscape ran into financial difficulties again and had to file for bankruptcy. The name of the shipping company disappeared for the next six years.

In 1997 the SeaEscape brand was revived. The only ship of the shipping company was the 1976 Ukraina , which from then on was in service on the same routes as the earlier SeaEscape ships. In 1998 it was named Island Adventure . After eleven years in service, the Island Adventure was retired in 2008 due to financial difficulties. SeaEscape was finally dissolved that year.
